What does PEGI 18 mean for UK parents?
- Not for under-18s. PEGI ratings are guidance, and retailers can refuse sale to younger buyers.
- Parental controls. PS5 and Xbox let you restrict games by age rating and limit spending and online chat.
- In-game purchases. Set spending limits on the child's account if they play other games.
- Online features. Rockstar has not detailed GTA 6 Online yet. Check chat and privacy settings when it does.
Is a PEGI rating legally binding in the UK?
PEGI ratings are legally enforced in the UK for games rated 12, 16 and 18, which means retailers must not sell them to younger buyers. Online and family-account purchases depend on the platform's own controls.
